Follow your Intuition Through to Fruition!

06 Feb Follow your Intuition Through to Fruition!

So here I am, in my second year of business,  reflecting back on the amazing transformational first year in business I have had.  My studio opened unofficially in December of 2015 and then my mom went into the hospital for emergency surgery.  She literally died on the table.  A miracle occurred and they brought her back to life.

She spent the next 17 days in and out of consciousness as I stayed by her bedside night after night.  I would go back to the studio in the morning and see how the build out was progressing and continue to handle all the final details for the planned January opening. My first workshop was on December 31st, 2015 with 19 students practicing on dusty floors that I had been told would be finished.  Everyone was so understanding.  We made vision boards and had an amazing experience together –  bringing light into a dark situation.  My floors had been flooded and we had to pull out all the existing floors days before to reveal amazingly rough but potentially beautiful original hard wood floors.  My contractor ended up leaving without finishing the work so I had to scramble to get the floors refinished and was given a recommendation from Adam at the DLBA.  My floors were finished within four days and the result was exactly as I had envisioned and actually dreamed about the night before the flooding of the floors.

With the schedule set, the teachers in place and the floors completed I had a soft opening in January.  Many of the classes had no students but slowly – students and friends would trickle in and I would teach classes to the few that arrived with joy.  My mother slowly improved and I continued to promote the studio and set up workshops. I would travel, back and forth from the studio to the hospital, rarely going home as I slept in a chair next to my mom’s bed fearful that she would not make it through the night.  She did make it and the second week of January she was moved from ICU, and the next week to a rehabilitation center.  I continued to go back and forth to make sure she was getting the best care as she was so weak and confused.  She had lost 40 lbs while in her hospital induced coma and had to gain her strength back.  We had spent our holidays, new year and my birthday in the hospital. She would wake out of her delerium and ask if she had ruined my opening. I told her no and I was not having my opening until she could attend!

I was determined to have her be at my grand opening – and on March 4th she walked up the stairs. Her attendance was the highlight of my evening.  With the mayor there, my family, my friends and my growing yoga community – we cut the ribbon and had a great party!  Since then, our yoga community has continued to grow and expand in ways I would have never anticipated.  I had the second annual Detox to Re-tox Intention Setting workshop and we made vision boards while sitting on clean floors!  I was able to get away for two weeks over the holidays thanks to the amazing team of teachers and desk angels I have now.  I walked into a decorated studio this year for my birthday that was a total surprise. We did 48 salutations in honor of my 48th birthday.  It was an amazing beginning to 2017 and my second year of being open for wellness in contrast to last years January.

* I feel so blessed and loved.

My new saying for the year is “Listen to your intuition and follow it through to fruition.”  The Universe and the Divine wants us to have all that we dream of.  My yoga practice has shown me this and the gift of yoga that I get to pass on multiple times a day has made all the difference in my life.  I no longer am a stressed out substitute teacher in LBUSD getting pink slipped and abused. I now am a successful business owner and yoga instructor with 10 teachers and many events and workshops being held at the studio. We have a healing room and an amazing massage therapist. I am currently seeking another renter for the room on Sundays and Mondays as well as three weeks in March. I am humbled by so many amazing new developments as our community grows. We are selling Fair Trade yoga bags made by women in Africa. Soon we will be carrying more yoga mats and mala beads. We are also offering Corporate Yoga packages and private yoga sessions. In addition we are offering more kundalini and Sadhana. Lastly we will be offering a teacher training by the Summer if all goes as planned.

Make your dreams come true.

Blessings and namaste!

You could certainly see your skills in the work you write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. Always go after your heart.
